(1) ÖSYM Profession Groups: not every department at universities in Turkey corresponds directly to a single profession. For example, graduates of a press and media department do not have a single defined profession. A medical education qualifies graduates as general practitioners; however, this does not mean they will become surgeons. For this reason, the guide defines only the general-practitioner profession. Professions are treated from this perspective, and this serves as a reference for narrow-field profession studies.
(2) University higher-education program counts: the number of programs, which was 21,865 in the 2023-2024 period, fell to 21,337 in 2024-2025 (ÖSYS Higher Education Programs and Quotas, Table 3 and Table 4).
(3) P.C.: Program Count
(4) TYT: Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) programs are associate-degree programs in which candidates study both verbal and numerical subjects.
(5) Language: Programs in which candidates study in a foreign language, or programs belonging to literature departments (such as Circassian Language and Literature).
(6) EA: Equal-Weight (EA) departments are programs in which candidates study in both verbal and numerical fields.
(7) SAY: Numerical (SAY) departments are programs in which candidates study in numerical fields.
(8) SÖZ: Verbal (SÖZ) departments are programs in which candidates study in verbal fields.
The university preference period is a process in which you make one of the most important decisions that will shape your future. These reports were prepared to guide you by turning the raw data in ÖSYM's 2026-YKS guide into something readable.
The first step to the right choice: the right information
Every year, hundreds of thousands of candidates prepare their preference lists without fully knowing which department corresponds to which profession, which universities offer it, or what success ranking is required for placement. Each report on this page opens up a single profession group from start to finish — together with university type (foundation/state/abroad), city, university, quota type, language of instruction, and accreditation information. Our goal is to turn the guide's thousands of lines of raw data into a clear guide you can browse card by card, university by university.
The reports below are ready and open for review. Each card shows the number of programs and universities in that profession group; clicking the title takes you to the full detail of the relevant report (broken down by city/university/quota).
Abbreviations such as MÜDEK, TEPDAD, DEPAD, VEDEK, MİAK, AACSB appear as badges on the university cards in the reports. This is the full list and glossary of the 36 accreditation bodies officially defined in ÖSYM's 2026-YKS guide: it includes each body's full (long) name, the field it covers, what the accreditation concretely adds to a program (such as international recognition, professional-chamber registration, or employer trust), and whether it is domestic or international. Whenever you're curious what a badge on a university card means, you can check here.
We wish success to all candidates making their profession choice. We hope these reports provide real value in one of the most important decisions ahead of you.
