Note: Only 32 bodies are defined with their full names on ÖSYM's own "Accreditation Bodies-2026" page. However, the codes MEDEK, FTR-AD, EPDAK and TURKPDR are actually used across thousands of program rows in the same guide's Tables 3/4 — an oversight ÖSYM missed when updating this page. This report combines both sections of the ÖSYM guide to cover all 36 bodies.

What Does Accreditation Do?

When the name of one of these bodies appears next to a program, it simply means that department's field-specific academic standards have passed an independent external evaluation (this is different from institutional "YÖKAK" accreditation).

Quality Assurance

The curriculum, faculty, assessment methods and infrastructure are audited against minimum standards set by independent experts in the field.

International Recognition

Accreditation from bodies such as ABET, AACSB and EAEVE gives an advantage in job/graduate applications abroad and in professional equivalency recognition.

Employer Trust

Employers know that a candidate graduating from an accredited program meets a certain competency standard.

Continuous Improvement

Accreditation is renewed every 2-5 years, which forces departments to keep the curriculum and infrastructure up to date.

Professional Competency

In fields such as medicine, architecture and engineering, accreditation may be linked to the conditions for practicing the profession.
